Purchasing a nucleous of bees, a nuc, is one of the easiest wasy of acquiring new hives. In the spring of 2009, these five frame nucs were purchased for $65 each.
A nuc is a small hive consisting of 4 or 5 frames used to start new colonies. Different bee keepers have different policies. Sometime they swap frames or they may sell the frames with the bees. Regardless, after the frames are removed from the nucs, the boxes are returned to the bee keeper.
